halmaA scene that is part of many rural landscapes throughout our country that may conjure romantic fantasies of a distant history. These roadside relics, in my view, need to be remembered. The work and the memories produced in these dignified structures are deserving of respect – – even if it is bestowed while driving by at 60 mph.

Northeast Minneapolis is home to the Ideal Diner. This homespun establishment offers thirteen stools at the counter, friendly faces and hash browned potatoes that will make you wish breakfast was served three times a day. Introduce yourself to Kevin. He’s the one with the spatula.

The alley to the service entrance of Minneapolis’ Sexton Building. The Sexton, during the 1980’s, was a hub in the Minneapolis photography community housing several photography studios, a strobe repair service and a vendor providing photo equipment rental. The Sexton has since been converted into residential condominiums.
